Community Profile

The Prairie Somali Canadian Community centre is a community-based non profit organization providing a wide range of much needed services mainly to Saskatchewan’s growing Somali ethnic community. It was established in 2011 to meet the ever-expanding needs and concerns of the Somali Canadians and new immigrants. It is an integral part in all facets of life of the Somali community in the province, and helps in improving the quality of life for the Somalis as well as other Afro-Canadian immigrants. Although limited in resources, PSCCC is the connecting point between Somalis of different ages and social status. It promotes and sustains the civic spirit and volunteerism in the community. PSCCC is among the primary founders and a proud member of the African Canadian Resources Network of Saskatchewan.

Date: October 01, 2017

The Prairie Somali Canadian Community Centre strongly condems the senseless and barbaric act of violence directed last night at innocent edmontonians and our law enforcement officers.

Violence and hate have no place in our society and we should all work together as one Canadian family to eliminate it from the face of earth.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families and we pray for their speedy recovery.

PSCC Centre works day in day out with youth and other sectors of our community to build a prosperous and peaceful Canada.

We help immigrants and Refugees with immigration/citizenship paperwork, such as sponsorship applications for family and relative reunifications, refugee asylum applications and rejection appeal processes, translation of foreign issued documents, interpretation services as well as applying for permanent resident cards, travel documents for refugees and protected persons, citizenship and Canadian passport applications as well as citizenship test prep classes.

We help immigrants, refugees and other new Canadians moving to Saskatchewan from within Canada or other parts of world learn about and understand their new community, by providing information about health care, housing and schools for children. We also help them apply for health cards, driving licenses and receive driver safety education as well as filling up housing rental application forms, and support them with reference letters when required, and also sometimes find volunteers in the community who can cosign their applications.
