The Prairie Somali Canadian Community centre is a community-based non profit organization providing a wide range of much needed services mainly to Saskatchewan’s growing Somali ethnic community. It was established in 2011 to meet the ever-expanding needs and concerns of the Somali Canadians and new immigrants. It is an integral part in all facets of life of the Somali community in the province, and helps in improving the quality of life for the Somalis as well as other Afro-Canadian immigrants. Although limited in resources, PSCCC is the connecting point between Somalis of different ages and social status. It promotes and sustains the civic spirit and volunteerism in the community. PSCCC is among the primary founders and a proud member of the African Canadian Resources Network of Saskatchewan.

Mission:

Though not limited, our main mission is to promote/advocate for the community concerns and contribute to the general well-being of the Somali Canadians/new immigrants in Regina and around Saskatchewan, and we try to achieve it by providing services and engaging all levels of government.

Objectives:

  • To enhance the reception/settlement services for the Somali immigrants in the province and help further their full and equitable participation in all segments of the Canadian society.
  • To promote fair access to education, employment, health, integration and other social services for the Somali Canadians and immigrants so that they may utilize their skills and experiences in the most regarding manner.
  • To respond and advocate for the concerns of the new comers particularly refugees and those not serviced by government and other non-governmental organizations
  • To create an open-dialogue and health relationship between the Somali immigrants and the law enforcement agencies in order to jointly fight and eliminate all kinds of criminal activities, especially among the youth
  • To promote mutual dialogue, cooperation and understanding among the diverse ethnic communities in this great province of Saskatchewan.
  • To encourage the well established Somali Canadians and businesses in the province to take the lead in hosting and helping the newly arrived immigrants and their families.
